Updated: Nov 7, 2023

"She Posse" emerges as a beacon of creativity and empowerment. This unique artist name carries with it a profound message and a mission to amplify the voices of female street artists, challenging stereotypes and pushing for gender equality. Join us as we delve into the remarkable journey of She Posse, exploring the story behind the alias, her colorful artistry, and the pivotal role she plays in the upcoming "Sticker Movie" project.

"She Posse" is a unique and memorable artist name. What's the story behind this alias, and what does it represent for you?

ShePosse's ultimate goal is to encourage and support others who identify as female to have the courage and freedom to create for the streets.

ShePosse was born from a desire to amplify the voices of fellow female street artists. As I observed a gender divide within the community, I felt compelled to create art that would inspire conversation and dialogue on the importance of gender equality and female empowerment. My sticker and paste-up art is a reflection of this passion, a visual representation of the power of art to spark meaningful conversations and challenge the status quo. ShePosse's ultimate goal is to encourage and support others who identify as female to have the courage and freedom to create for the streets. By collectively creating art in public spaces, we can make our voices heard, louder and clearer than ever before, and celebrate diversity while calling for greater representation and inclusivity in the street art community.

Your sticker art is known for its vibrant and eye-catching colors. How do you select your color palettes, and what do these colors symbolize in your artwork?

As a lifelong artist and career graphic designer, I have always been captivated by colors. It's as if my color palettes choose me. Colors are like candy to my eyes, and I find myself drawn to certain combinations that look delicious or evoke a particular mood. When I visit galleries, I can get lost in the colors of a painting, sometimes not even focusing on the object itself. Colors have always been a source of fascination and inspiration for me.

In your 20 years of experience, what advice would you give to emerging artists looking to make their mark in the world of sticker art or visual arts in general?

To all aspiring sticker artists and visual artists, I urge you to follow your passion with unwavering determination. Embrace your mistakes and use them as opportunities to learn and grow. Don't let criticism discourage you; instead, use it as motivation to improve. Don't procrastinate or wait for the perfect moment - as my dear friend/sister Agent 5 Smith says, "do it scared." The journey may be challenging, but the rewards are immeasurable. Who knows, you may even create something that touches the hearts of others and brings happiness to the world.

The upcoming release of the "stickermovie" film is undoubtedly a significant event in your artistic career. Can you share with us how important it is for you to have contributed to this project and what we can expect to see in it? How do you think it will contribute to the understanding and appreciation of sticker art?

Being a co-producer of Sticker Movie has been a long and rewarding journey for me. I joined the team just over a year ago, when the film was already two years in the making. Despite having no prior experience in this role, the creators and fellow "sticker heads" - writer Agent 5 Smith and director Chilly Willy - had faith in me and encouraged me to keep spreading the love of our story and finding ways to bring it to the big screen.

Throughout my experience producing the film, I've always followed Agent 5 Smith's motto of "whatever is best for the film." I've worn many new hats - from auction organizer where the sticker community donated their art in an effort to raise money for post-production costs, collaborating with PM Slaps to produce our first-ever zine, and selling ad space to fund the crew's travel to the world premiere. I've used my veteran design skills to produce content for our Instagram and communicated with hundreds of artists in our DMs. I've poured my heart and soul into this project all while balancing and maintaining my 25+ year career as a graphic designer at a Silicon Valley-based big-tech company where the pressure is constantly on. Yet, I still find time to create my own art and enjoy time with my husband, family, and friends. I've been asked several times "how do you do it all?" Honestly, doing what I love allows me to be on autopilot and is constant fuel to keep my life fulfilled.

The team behind Sticker Movie has become like family to me. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve celebrated, and we support each other through every step of the process. We all have different backgrounds and experiences, but we shared a common goal - to share the story of Sticker people, and Sticker Movie is their legacy. The world premiere of Sticker Movie in Portland, Oregon in early October is a testament to the power of passion. The energy and enthusiasm from everyone who attended was truly heartwarming.

As I reflect on my experience as co-producer of Sticker Movie, I'm filled with gratitude and pride. Gratitude for the opportunity to work with such an amazing team and bring this story to life. And pride in what we accomplished together with the beautiful sticker community.

As the curtains rise on the exciting cinematic endeavor of "Sticker Movie," we witness not only the artistic brilliance of She Posse but also the power of collaboration and shared passion within the sticker art community. This film promises to be a significant chapter in the world of visual arts, offering a deeper understanding of the dedicated artists who adorn our streets with creativity and meaning. With "She Posse" leading the way, the future of street art looks brighter than ever, promising to inspire, challenge, and transform our perspectives.
